How To Delete Hinge Account

How to delete Hinge account? Of course, you did not download Hinge to be on the app forever.

Probably you found someone special. Or you are just done swiping (for now). Also, it could be a hundred other things – but the point is you want to delete your account.

If you have used dating apps before, then you already know that uninstalling the app will not delete your profile automatically.

FYI, if you uninstall a dating app from your device, your profile is still visible to people on the app. So, you have to delete your profile from the app before you can hit the ‘uninstall’ button.

Moreover, if you have upgraded your Hinge account to Hinge+ or HingeX, then you need to cancel your premium subscription before deleting your account and uninstalling the app.

Sounds somewhat exhausting? With my personal step-by-step guide, it will take you only about five minutes to permanently delete your Hinge account. I have done it – and helped many friends (and colleagues) do it. And so here I’m with a no-nonsense, easy guide to help you:

  1. Delete your Hinge account.
  2. Cancel your Hinge subscription.

Stay tuned.

What Happens When You Delete Your Hinge Account?

What Happens When You Delete Your Hinge Account?

Once you delete your Hinge account, you will lose all the content on your account. This includes your profile information, media, messages, and matches.

As a result, Hinge will no longer feature your profile to other users in its Discover section. Also, your account will disappear from the ‘Likes You’ and ‘Matches’ sections of other users.

Moreover, you will not be able to access any information about others. This means you won’t be able to access both your messages and matches.

However, deleting your Hinge account does not mean the dating app is actually deleting all your data.

According to the privacy policy of Hinge, your personal data is stored for “only as long as it’s needed for legitimate business purposes.”

But the policy does not specify how long Hinge is legally allowed to retain your data even after you delete your account.

So, to review what personal information Hinge has at its disposal, you can raise a ticket from the app’s Help Center.

Also, select either ‘GDPR Request’ or ‘Data Export’ from the ‘Support Topic’ section while filling out the requested data within the pop-up. In addition, note that you should request this data export before deleting your profile on Hinge.

How To Delete Hinge Account? Alternatives To Deleting Your Account Permanently:

Now that you have all the information on deleting your Hinge account and what it means, are you sure?

So, if you aren’t sure about permanently deleting your Hinge account, I have some alternatives to consider.

Pausing Your Hinge Profile:

While Hinge does not have a temporary deactivation feature for users, the app does allow users to pause their accounts.

So, pausing your Hinge account will temporarily hide your profile from other users – at least the ones who have not seen your profile yet.

Here’s how to go about it:

  1. Open Hinge on your device.
  2. Go to the ‘Your Profile’ section.
  3. Access ‘Settings’ by clicking on the gear-shaped icon.
  4. Now, scroll till you find ‘Account Settings’ or ‘Account.’
  5. Search for the ‘Pause Account’ option.

Also, for a better understanding of how to pause or deactivate your account on other popular dating apps, I have covered the query thoroughly for both Tinder and Bumble in the following blogs:

  1. How to pause Tinder account?
  2. How to deactivate Tinder?
  3. Also, how to deactivate Bumble?

Adjusting Your Privacy Settings:

Also, you can use the privacy settings of your Hinge account to set notification preferences and limit your profile visibility.

TBH, at the end of the day, it is your online dating experience.

So, the most important thing that you always need to remember in this context is you should do whatever feels right – and right for you, not anyone else.

My job was to make you aware of all the options at your disposal. That being said, go ahead and do what feels right for you!
