When do Bumble Likes reset?

Are you staring at the exhausting – not to mention, dreaded – ‘You’re out of likes’ messages on your screen, and that too while you are on a swiping spree? Well, you are not alone in this one. It is perhaps the most common obstacle for people seeking to make a match.

And I have been one of those people for the longest time – but not anymore. What if I tell you there is a way to master the whole system? What if it’s possible to make the most of Bumble without waiting for your likes to reset?

Yep! This is precisely why I am here – this blog is your brand-new Bumble playbook! I am here to break down when do Bumble likes reset, and discuss my swiping strategies for maximum impact.

Stay tuned.

When Do Bumble Likes Reset?

When Do Bumble Likes Reset_

Bumble Likes reset every 24 hours. So, if you finish using your ‘likes’ at 1 AM on 1st October, then it will automatically get reset in 24 hours, that is, 1 AM on 2nd October. Yep, the 24-hour period operates within a rolling system – it’s not set at a specific time for all users every day.

Instead, it depends on when you finish using the ‘likes’ at your disposal. Unlike several dating apps where users receive new likes at a certain time every day, Bumble makes it convenient for users.

The pressure to use all ‘likes’ every day is unnecessary when you can choose to use them at your convenience. I find this system fair, and it always works well for everyone involved. Tinder also follows a similar 24-hour rolling window for refreshing likes.

The Psychology Behind Bumble’s Limit On Likes: Why Scarcity Matters?

I have briefly talked about Bumble’s limit on daily likes for free users recently, while discussing: how many likes do you get on Bumble?

But today, I want to touch upon the psychology behind making likes scarce: think about it. Why does Bumble even limit your likes? Just to make you upgrade to premium? I don’t think so. Upgrading to a premium version is definitely one of the reasons – but a secondary one at that.

However, primarily, I think it’s a calculative part of basic dating app psychology. The purpose? To improve the quality of connections and matches on a dating app. If unlimited ‘likes’ were available for free, then people would have swiped right on every other profile – if there is no exclusivity on a dating app, then why are you even on it?

The primary principle working here is scarcity. So, when any resource has limited availability – daily likes, for example – chances are its perceived value automatically increases. This, in turn, forces you to be more thoughtful and selective with each of your swipes.

As a result, you can avoid swiping mindlessly on a dating app. Instead, you can actually go through a profile before hitting like on them.

In addition, this psychology also combats the whole issue of choice overload. When you face endless alternatives, it is only normal to feel overwhelmed with all the choices at your disposal.

So, by limiting all the options you have, Bumble is simply encouraging you to prioritize quality instead of quantity, leading to less burnout and more meaningful matches.

How To Use Likes Effectively And Maximize Your Bumble Experience? Strategic Timing!

Knowing when do Bumble likes reset is not enough – knowing how to use your likes for a better experience is the point! So, swiping and using likes at peak hours on Bumble significantly increases your potential for getting matches immediately.

Swipe At Peak Hours For Maximum Match Potential:

I’m not the only one saying it – it’s practically true because I have tested this out multiple times and IT WORKS! To make the most of your experience, you need to improve your visibility on Bumble.

And in order to do that, you have to save your ‘likes’ for the right time:

  1. Sunday Evening: This is literally the ‘Super Bowl’ for Bumble and most other dating apps. Everyone is literally planning the next seven days and is typically open to connecting.
  1. Prime Time (8 PM to 10 PM): This is like Bumble’s own sweet spot. It’s the time when most Bumble users are relaxing at home and swiping actively.
  1. Evening Commute (5 PM to 7 PM): This is literally one of the best windows that work for all apps universally – from LinkedIn to Bumble, active users are coming back from work and busy scrolling their phones.

Weekday Vs Weekend Swiping Strategies:

Much like swiping at peak hours, there is a strategy behind swiping on weekends and how it differs from weekdays. And I am here to break it down for you.

  1. Weekends: On weekends, the Bumble app activity is spread out relatively more than on weekdays. Still, both Sunday and Saturday evenings are peak hours. So, you can use your swipes on both evenings to plan dates for the following week.
  1. Weekdays: On weekdays, just use the app during its peak hours. But ensure it’s a quick swiping session – like swiping during lunch for the most effective results.

Common Misconceptions About Bumble Likes

Common Misconceptions About Bumble Likes_

Obviously, there are several misconceptions about how Bumble Likes work. And after talking to 50 active Bumble users – albeit mostly women, I realized three major misconceptions exist.

So, I’m going to look at each of these issues and call them out for what they are: fake stuff that you should never believe.

1. Bumble Likes Reset At Midnight:

Well, this is already obvious – it’s not true! Like I just spoke about, Bumble follows a 24-hour rolling time period for resetting likes, and that too for all free users of the app.

As a result, your likes will not get reset by midnight. So, if you finish using your likes at 7 PM, remember it will come at 7 PM the next day.

2. You Can ‘Save’ Your Likes:

For the longest time, I believed you could ‘save’ your ‘likes.’ Well, you cannot – and that is my only problem with Bumble Likes! Bumble will give you a specific number of likes every day – and if you don’t use all of them in one day, it’s not like you will get more the next day.

The app only gives your likes when you finish yours – it’s a 24-hour rolling period. So, there’s nothing you can gain from ‘saving’ your Bumble Likes. Instead, just focus on using the app daily and making some matches.

3. Swiping On Everyone Improves The Overall Experience:

This is perhaps the weirdest myth I have come across! Remember that most dating apps, including Bumble, are smart – so, liking everyone will just hurt your visibility and not improve your chances.

So, if you swipe on every profile, then Bumble will think of you as a bot. Also, it might not take you seriously, and start showing you to fewer people. As a result, it is best to be selective with your swipes to make better matches on the app.

Plus, it tells the app who you are looking for – rather, what type of a match you are seeking? And this, in turn, will improve your overall experience on the app.

When Do Bumble Likes Reset? Troubleshooting Common Issues

While it’s not difficult to understand how the Bumble Likes work for free users, it is possible to face certain issues. This is precisely why I’m here to break down the most common issues that you can face – and most importantly, offer a solution for each of those issues.

What To Do If Bumble Likes Don’t Reset Within 24 Hours?

In this case, there are four things you can do before contacting Bumble Support:

  1. The oldest trick might just work – so, start by closing and opening the app on your device. It has worked for me – why won’t it work for you?
  1. Check if your internet connectivity is working. Again, this might sound a little stupid, but it works.
  1. Now, the third alternative is to update the Bumble app. This is because bugs can impact your likes if you are using an outdated version of the app.
  1. Lastly, you can consider logging out before logging in again. This re-establishes fresh connectivity with your server, often resolving account-specific bugs and glitches.
