Taylor Swift announced her dreamy engagement last evening, sending fans all over the world into a frenzy. With just a single line, a five-picture carousel post on Instagram, and signed off with a fire-cracker emoji, Swift announced her much-awaited engagement to Travis Kelce, the star of American football.
The internet? Lost its marbles with the photo and news going viral in seconds.
Swift wore a halter-neck one-piece by Ralph Lauren and accessorized with a diamond-encrusted Cartier watch. In the photos, Kelce can be seen going down on a knee and popping the question, while gazing into one another’s eyes before embracing.
In my opinion, this is a tight slap on the face of global media and haters – everyone who kept on talking about how Swift was faking her relationship with Kelce, calling it a cheap PR stunt.
Well, the photos have made Swifties across the globe happy. And even if I am not a Swiftie, I have always enjoyed listening to Taylor’s music. And I think after all the years she has spent looking for the right guy, this is everything that she wanted!
Taylor’s NFL Era Is Here To Stay! It’s A Love Story…
Here’s a little backstory of what happened in the past few years:
Ever since the Lover singer accepted Travis Kelce’s invitation to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play the Chicago Bears on 24th September, literally everyone – from football fans to Swifties has been entirely glued to the couple’s every move.
It is like a high-school romance from the outside.
However, others, including Sara Haines, the host of ‘The View,’ said that the couple’s pairing is an elaborate publicity stunt, complete with planned moments, including the shots where the couple was spotted in a getaway car – perhaps a reference to Swift’s popular song.
The Truth:
The truth is (as per PR experts) if Swift wanted to be with someone for the sake of publicity, then she probably wouldn’t have opted for Kelce.
Think about it…
Swift is famous – so much so that she does not need to depend on PR gimmicks or a fake relationship, for that matter – just so she can get attention. She already gets enough attention! But even if that was her primary goal, then she would have most probably chosen an individual with a somewhat bigger profile.
There are so many famous athletes. Trave Kelce is not one of them! He doesn’t have the crossover appeal of Swift – it’s not like she would have gotten all his fans! Please give us a break – that’s so not happening!
Moreover, she is one of the most popular global entertainers out there – if she felt like dating one of the most popular athletes, then she would have done it. Travis is not one of them – though the 33-year-old tight end is one of the best tight ends to have ever played in the NFL.
Also, the Cruel Summer singer appears to do everything organically – as a result, you cannot decisively say it was a stunt.
Instead, whatever is happening between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is spontaneous – it is an instance of something that feels genuine at the moment. In fact, if you see how cautious Swift has been with the overexposure due to the sincerity of the budding relationship.
Additionally, she does not typically do things out in public that she is not comfortable with – in fact, she would only do something when it felt like it was worth everything. Based on all that we have seen so far, it feels like Kelce and Swift are really into each other.
How Travis Met Taylor (If You Have Been Living Under The Rock)?
It’s a love story that could actually be a Hollywood rom-com: The top American pop singer and the top American football player meet up, sparks fly, and they end up dating with the world watching.
In July 2023, Kelce attended a Swift concert with a friendship bracelet that had his number. But he wasn’t able to meet her. By September, the two were in the “talking” phase. Things finally heated up when the Grammy winner showed up at Kelce’s game later that month.
After the KCC tight end missed meeting Swift at one of her shows in July, he sent her an invite to watch him play football at Arrowhead Stadium – the same venue where Swift had performed earlier.
