So around a month ago, I signed up on Kippo for 30 days! I am really starting to like this journey. FYI, I’m on an unfiltered journey to explore the most underrated dating apps in the world.
From the world’s only meme-based dating app to an app meant for people over 50, I’ve been on all of them. Yes, my love life is a complete mess. And trust me, once I’m done reviewing all the apps on my list, I’ll write a huge-ass opinionated piece on finding love in the age of algorithms.
For now, I am here to share my experience on Kippo, a dating app that exclusively caters to gamers with a focus on a young audience demographic. While the idea sounds catchy and quirky, is it worth the hype, or even the investment?

Remember Schmooze? The meme-based dating app? Yep, Kippo is yet another dating app that has a niche – this one’s meant for gaming enthusiasts. Yep, the app focuses on the competitive gaming culture and obviously on a younger audience.
I think the concept is pretty cool! A dating app where gamers can connect with other gamers. Plus, the interface is clean, user-friendly, and modern. Moreover, the app’s got features that can help users express their personality via unique conversation starters and gaming profiles.
So, first impressions? Good! It seemed better than your everyday dating app.
What Are The Key Features Of Kippo?
To make things easier for you, I’ve laid out the key features of this unique dating app:
1. Personalized Profiles:
On Kippo, I was able to customize my profile, emphasizing my gaming interests. This specifically sets the app apart from popular dating apps, where profiles usually revolve around standard information like location and age. Also, I was able to include information about my favorite games, gaming history, and even character avatars.
2. Gaming-Based Matching:
The matching system on Kippo has been made for connecting individuals with similar gaming interests. So, if you are a fan of multiplayer games, strategy games, or RPGs, this app can prove to be an effective option for you. You can easily find matches who share some love for similar genres.
3. Send One Message Daily:
Not a big fan of this feature, but it does keep you in check from bombarding people with ‘hellos.’ With this feature, you can only send one message every day to anyone you are interested in getting to know better. So, it does promote more thoughtful and meaningful conversations instead of mindless swiping.
4. Cost-Effective Membership Plans:
While Kippo does have a free version, upgrading to a paid version will unlock several features like sending unlimited messages and enjoying access to relatively more matches. Now, I found the pricing super affordable, making it an excellent option for a younger audience with budget issues.
5. Focus On User Safety:
Even if there are certain safety concerns, Kippo does attempt to prioritize user safety. Yep, the app does have different security features that ensure profiles are legit and users are able to report inappropriate behavior.

So, is Kippo free? Yes! The app does have a free version. However, in spite of being free, the app also offers a subscription. Once you activate the Kippo Infinity Subscription, you will be able to send unlimited texts, add seven cards to your profile, and swipe over 30 profiles daily.
However, I would suggest that it is best to opt for the free version, since it does not impact meeting people that much. The only thing you are likely to face is the total number of texts you can send. So, with the paid subscription, you can get rid of messaging and browsing limitations.

Kippo is literally a unique dating app that has no exact alternatives. I mean, it’s a niche-dating app with a focus on the gaming culture and gaming enthusiasts. In that case, it is difficult to find exact alternatives.
Having said that, there are so many unique dating apps out there that offer so much more than mindless swiping and superficial experiences. At a glance, here are some of them:

- “I’ve been on this app for close to 6 years now, and I never found a permanent match. The first way to see people who like you is through paying a subscription, which no one will pay for. The other way is to send a message that others will surely see, but you can only do it once per day. Once you do match with someone, every opposite sex who uses it is completely anti-social and never replies, and only wants to get VG knowledge out of you so they unmatch, and reap the information.” (User on Play Store on 22nd June, 2025).
- “It’s a great concept, and clearly a popular one. I would recommend it if you are really set on meeting gamers, specifically, but only if you’re willing to deal with the slow load times and glitches. I get notifications from people I’ve unmatched with, have to restart a few times to delete matches, and have to restart to read messages when I get notifications. - “The app itself is great. The low population of users and strict limits for free users are major detractors, though. I went through the entire list of potential matches within 150 miles in 3 days (and on day 3, there were only a handful left). Is Kippo Worth The Hype (And Investment)?
If you compare with other niche-dating apps like Feeld and SilverSingles, Kippo does fare well, thanks to the overall unique experience. Moreover, popular dating apps like Bumble and Tinder depend on conventional matching systems, where users primarily review photos and profiles.
With Kippo, users can connect depending on shared gaming habits, which in turn leads to meaningful conversations. Having said that, my problem with the app is its small user base – the niche appeal fails to work out due to this major disadvantage.
Naturally, if you are a gaming enthusiast and looking for something quirky on dating apps, then check out Kippo! However, if you are looking for something more conventional, then the target demographic of this app might not appeal to you.
