Is Hinge Premium worth it?
Previously, I wasn’t really a fan of Hinge. I used to hate swiping right on people without knowing whether they liked me. As a result, I would end up waiting around, trying to find out who had liked my profile, instead of just enjoying myself.

However, the free version has some limitations, such as a daily limit on a user’s likes, which can be frustrating for many users.
Moreover, Hinge+ (also known as Hinge Preferred) costs $2.99 monthly or less if you pay for a longer subscription.
This plan offers multiple premium features that can improve your entire dating app experience, including:
- Unlimited likes.
- The ability to see who likes your profile.
- Advanced filtering to set preferences.
With a Hinge+ membership, you can enjoy unlimited likes to continue swiping without any unnecessary interruption.
Also, you can use the advanced filters to narrow down potential options based on your preferences, such as lifestyle choices, politics, and height.

Free Hinge Account Pain Points:
Most Hinge users explore paid plans for one specific reason: the daily limit on likes. On the app’s free version, you can only use 8 likes every day. That’s all you get.

If your match rate is 1-3% on average, sending 8 likes daily could mean you go several days or even weeks without any matches.
So, you are going to a gun fight with a knife, essentially.
On that note, here are the top three pain points of using a free Hinge account:
- Scarcity: With only eight likes at your disposal daily, you will hesitate unnecessarily to swipe right. For example, you might end up passing a good match because you are expecting to meet someone better.
- No Insight: With the free version, you will have zero idea about who is around you. Until someone good stumbles on your feed, there is no way to find out who liked your profile.
- Slow Pace: Hinge’s algorithm entirely depends on data. With limited engagement, it will take a long time for the app to learn your preferences and subsequently suggest better profiles.
The Perks Of Using Hinge Premium:
With a free Hinge account, you can easily filter matches by:

- Ethnicity.
- Age.
- Religion.
- Gender Identity.
But that’s all you can do with a free account. In contrast, with a Hinge+ membership, you can access unlimited filters.
This means you can choose matches based on their political ideology, height, drinking habits, smoking habits, and more.
Moreover, with unlimited likes at your disposal, you can go on a swiping binge without any rude interruptions. I mean, with a premium membership, you can afford to use up your likes on funny voice prompts.
So, in my opinion, if you don’t pay for a premium Hinge membership, you will only have a few likes at your disposal.
Plus, if you are shy or get awkward easily, it is worth paying for a feature that lets you see who liked your profile on the app.
The Pricing:
Hinge+ burned a smaller hole in my wallet than Bumble. At $29.99 per month, Hinge+ is priced in line with the dating app landscape.
Moreover, if you pay for 3 months at once, you’ll pay $19.99 per month. And if you pay for 6 months at once, it will cost you $14.99 per month.
But is this pricing worth the hype? Well, frankly, it depends. If I take into account all the perks of Hinge Premium plans, then the answer is: No.

How Hinge Premium Compares To Other Dating Apps?
To help you understand what’s good for you, I’ve compared Hinge Premium with paid plans of two other popular dating apps: Bumble and Tinder.
Hinge Vs Bumble:
Personally, I prefer Hinge to Bumble because I don’t like how Bumble matches expire after a day if no one texts. In contrast, you can interact with your match on Hinge at your own pace. Also, you can either text first or let the other person text you first on Hinge.
Having said that, it is true that for any woman who loves to take the lead in their romantic life, Bumble can feel empowering.
Hinge Vs Tinder:
Casual and less serious daters will always enjoy using Tinder more than Hinge. This is simply because you don’t have to invest a lot of time creating a profile on Tinder. Moreover, the general vibes feel very casual.
Is Hinge Premium Worth It? My Experience:
As compared to using Hinge normally, which is mostly about checking the dating app weekly and letting likes come in, I got more matches with the premium plan. Also, I had more opportunities to converse with people.
Now, I am not sure whether it is because I started paying for a premium plan.
This dating app also rewards users who spend time on the app. It makes a lot of sense if you think about it – why put anyone who is never using the app on top of the stack?
But this is also true that once I paid for Hinge’s paid plans, I started using the app more.
Once I started giving ‘roses’ to people, or rather liking their profiles and interacting more with my matches, I got so much more visibility.
It is difficult to tell whether this happened because I am paying for their premium service, or I finally started using the app more.
Also, did I see enough hot people? YES! But instead of just looking at such profiles and letting it go, I began swiping more, rather than depending on who had already liked my profile. And that made all the difference in the world.
If you have used other dating apps and you like Hinge the most, then it’s best to pay for a premium subscription for an excellent experience.
Just ensure that you are really using the app – put yourself out there. And if paying improves your experience, then you should go for it.
