Tawkify: Is This Paid Matchmaking Service Worth The Hype (And Investment)?

Tawkify

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that a single woman in possession of a good job must be in search of a man – a man in finance, maybe? Living in a world dominated by an overwhelming number of dating apps and some truly bizarre dating trends (what is vulturing, for god’s sake!), algorithms have transformed the entire dating scene.

And it might not always be a fantastic idea.

Yes, so many people (including me) are meeting prospective matches online – but there are also so many others dealing with the unappealing consequences of an unlimited dating pool: mindless swiping, ghosting, micro cheating, etc.

One thing is clear: while it is most likely that you will meet Prince Charming on a dating app, it is also true that dating platforms hardly have any reputation currently. With popular apps falling prey to scams, the only option left is to try out Bumble or Tinder alternatives.

Meet Tawkify, my new love interest!

Since I love overanalyzing all my love interests with my friends in detail, Tawkify suits me well! I’ll tell you why! Unlike traditional dating apps, this one is meant for matchmakers who can choose potential partners for you. Then, you will find the matchmaker even planning the date for you – this also includes choosing the location!

I know it does sound like a whole 180-degree turnaround from conventional dating apps.

However, I want to help you ladies figure out if this pricey cupid service is worth the hype (and the investment)? So, I just went ahead and signed up on the app for two weeks. Based on my experience and those of others I have talked to on social media platforms, here’s my comprehensive review of Tawkify.

Stay tuned!

What Is Tawkify?

What Is Tawkify

Brainchild of E. Jean Carroll, a famous relationship advice writer/columnist, Tawkify first saw daylight more than a decade ago in 2012. Apart from Carroll, the app has three other co-founders, Kenneth Shaw, Susan Huang, and Patrick Shih.

Back in 2012, eHarmony and Match were thriving. However, there was a gap in the market – the value that data-driven online dating apps were giving failed to increase user satisfaction. The demand for personalized matchmaking already existed.

Enter Tawkify with one goal: to blend human insight and experience with relevant data to help matchmakers make perfect matches.

How Does Tawkify Work?

How Does Tawkify Work

Before I could join the platform, I had to go through its application procedure. It was more of a questionnaire that verified my location, age, financial situation, and what I wanted from the app.

So, based on this application, it is possible that the app might think you are not right for the service. For instance, most matchmakers and users are from big cities. As a result, the app is ideal for anyone living in metro cities.

In addition, if the service fails to find a suitable match for you in your location and age group then they might suggest skipping at the time.

Thankfully, I was able to pass this initial screening. Then, I had to create a profile with my basic information and two images. Plus, I also had to select my ‘best traits.’ So, I selected ‘independent,’ ‘ambitious,’ and ‘honest.’ I really liked how the app gave me space for adding more context behind selecting these traits specifically.

Also, please note that this information is typically pulled from the initial survey you undertake on joining the app.

Once I was done with these sections, I had to give information about my potential partners. In this section, I selected the ideal height, age, ethnicity, and even spirituality. Also, I had to select the traits that I find attractive in men.

What I Thought About This Process?

While this process was time-consuming (and exhausting), it was something that made me really think. What do I want from a relationship? Rarely, I have given it a thought – what is it that attracts me?

Mostly, I’m busy chasing the usual adrenaline rush of talking to a hot, attractive guy. But what is there beyond the hotness?

Also, I really liked how the membership coordinator actually discussed with me how I wanted to make the most of this service once I had finished completing my profile.

How do Dates On Tawkify Work?

On Tawkify, matchmakers actually plan and coordinate dates for you including the scheduling of location and time. So, members practically don’t have any pictures of their date before meeting them.

Instead, all you will get is the name, hair color, age, and outfit – it’s like going on a blind date in the 2000s.

While it was a win-win on a few occasions, especially in terms of safety, it could have been better if I had more information about my date. Also, once the date is over, you can share feedback about the whole experience with your matchmaker. Plus, that way you can let your matchmaker plan the next date with the same person, or just find you someone new.

How Much Does Tawkify Memberships Cost?

How Much Does Tawkify Memberships Cost

During my onboarding call, a membership coordinator from the app’s team discussed my relationship goals in detail and the membership options available for me.

To be honest, this app is expensive. In fact, matchmaking services start from $4,900. This costing depends on how many dates you opt for – the package starts with three dates and goes up to 12 dates.

Also, I noticed that the app does not share the pricing plan for its most premium membership. But then I did know people online who had used the most expensive plan. And my research tells me, VIP memberships can cost your $70K or even more – hmm, who knew finding true love could get THIS expensive?

Now, if you don’t want to spend so much money, it’s fine – Tawkify has some affordable options as well! You can join the app’s extensive matchmaker database for only $9.99/monthly. This option will actually make your account appear in front of matchmakers, but there’s legit no guarantee that they will get you a date.

Also, while talking to the membership coordinator, one thing became obvious (which I later found out was a correct assumption): you are not going to get a lot of dates from being on the database. Naturally, if you pay more, chances of getting dates will be higher.

Pros And Cons Of Tawkify

Based on my experience, I’ve listed down the pros and cons of Tawkify below:

ProsCons
1. Personalized matchmaking accompanied by three different deal breakers.1. Expensive pricing plan with no guarantee for meeting ‘the one.’
2. The matchmaker will plan and coordinate all your dates. 2. Some users have reported limitations in the quality of matches and the app’s database.
3. Ensures the user’s safety with no feature for exchanging photos or numbers. 3. Matchmakers are not always good at making the perfect match.

So, I tried out several dating apps over a year. Based on my experience on these apps and research materials I obtained after talking to at least a 100 women, here’s a list of Tawkify alternatives at a glance:

  1. Coffee Meets Bagel.
  2. Silversingles.
  3. Elite Singles.
  4. Tinder.
  5. Bumble.
  6. Hinge.
  7. OkCupid.

Is Tawkify Worth The Hype (And Investment)?

So, it all boils down to one question: is Tawkify worth the hype and the investment?

If you are done with the whole mindless swiping culture then you can see the benefits of opting for matchmaking services. I mean, if you find the whole swiping game dehumanizing and think it makes humans disposable then you might start appreciating the worth of a matchmaking service.

I mean as a 28 year old single woman, I already know what I want in my relationship or rather how I want my partner to be. On that note, I don’t want to spend a lot of time swiping through different profiles. Instead, I would rather pay a matchmaker to curate the perfect experience for me.

So, it can save you energy and time, but sadly not money on the flip side!

In fact, I did not get any date for a whole week after joining Tawkify’s database. Yes, the coordinator had warned me about the same. But then, thankfully I got two dates the next week – the quality of matches were pretty great considering I barely paid anything.

So, if you do end up using this app, please share your experience with me in the comments below!
